GOANNA REFORMS!
Goanna 1983 at the height of their game
"Personally, I feel as though the past forty years have been an extraordinary journey into a deeper understanding of Aboriginal Australia and the Australian landscape for me. I think many people have made that journey. But most haven’t. Most Australians are still confused about their relationship with Aboriginal Australia. Most Australians are well meaning but most rarely have contact with Aboriginal people. For them, their relationship is intellectual and not personal. For me, it’s deeply personal. Many of the friendships that I forged back in the early 1980′s have continued for the past thirty years and my awareness and connections have deepened. This has been both inspiring and heart breaking. I often feel like I live on a bridge between Aboriginal and mainstream Australia and sometimes it feels like the distance between those two worlds is too great to create unity. Music is one way to overcome that sense of distance." ~ Shane Howard.
"They are the children of the Sun who came of age on Nov 11, 1975 & their music carries a message for the Space Invader generation. The Goanna Band hail from the beaches of Victoria's West Coast, along the Great Ocean Road, between Warrnambool & Geelong."
The reformed Goanna will join Paul Kelly, Emma Donovan, Courtney Barnett and Baker Boy for the almost all-Australian 30th anniversary program, which returns to its seven-stage format in Botanic Park in March.

Emma Donovan & The Putbacks for CRESFEST 2022
Join celebrated contemporary folk and world music artists for a weekend of joyful musical encounters in the forested gold rush town of Creswick, nestled between Daylesford and Ballarat. Acclaimed Indigenous vocalist Emma Donovan and Melbourne rhythm combo The Putbacks first burst on to the Australian scene with their album Dawn in 2014, announcing a new voice in Australian soul music. After six years, the band reunited launching Crossover in 2020 to great acclaim. Emma’s songwriting is optimistic, impassioned, and bruisingly honest, The Putbacks’ music is fluid, live and raw, and the collaboration has won friends and admirers all over the world.... emmadonovan.com
